30 years of partnership: Weynants & ERDINGER – a success story
Our partners

To mark the 30th anniversary of the partnership between Weynants and ERDINGER Weissbräu, Bram Speetjens, co-owner of Weynants, talks about the early days and the shared success of the two companies. Weynants, a Belgian beverage distributor with over 120 years of history, has established itself as a leading distributor of Trappist beers. The collaboration with ERDINGER Weissbräu is a success story based on quality, shared values and a genuine passion for beer. In the interview, Bram Speetjens gives exciting insights into the challenges and highlights of this long-standing partnership.

How did the partnership between Weynants and ERDINGER begin?
In the early 90s, the former owner of Weynants was looking for a German beer to import to Belgium. After careful analysis, he chose ERDINGER Weissbier.

What are the success factors for the long-standing cooperation?
The most important factor is the quality of the wheat beer. Other factors include ERDINGER's regular presence at Belgium’s largest on-trade fair and the work of the ERDINGER Fan Club in Waregem. The Belgians share the Bavarian passion for wheat beer and enjoying life together. The success of ERDINGER Alkoholfrei has also strengthened the partnership. And of course we mustn’t forget the dedicated employees of both companies.
Were there any particular milestones or challenges?
There is a wide range of beer available in Belgium. Establishing a Bavarian wheat beer here was not easy. However, ERDINGER has always supported us and been receptive to our concerns.
How important is the collaboration for Weynants?
ERDINGER Weissbräu is the perfect addition to our range of Trappist beers. It also allows our sales team to operate more commercially – which boosts motivation.
What makes Weynants special and what does the future hold for the partnership?
Weynants has been operating for over 120 years and is well known today as a Trappist beer distributor. Our goal is to continue to establish ERDINGER as the leading wheat beer in Belgium and to grow organically together.
If the partnership were a beer, what type would it be?
Definitely ERDINGER Festweisse – strong and special, with an extra portion of enjoying life together!
